The care work of the department is to provide educational
and cultural services to all children and young people,
on both formal and informal settings.
These services include:

New Community Schools will:
• integrate provision of school education, family
support, health education and related
services
• have clear management arrangements for the delivery
of services
• adopt strategies to encourage both pupils and
parents to develop positive attitudes to learning
• focus support on the family unit to encourage
parents and children through family learning
and interaction
• provide access to educational, recreational,
