Cash Help for 16 to 19 year olds and Their Parents

Young people in Work

A young person may still qualify for Income Support/ Jobseekers Allowance if they are on a low income and work up to 16 hours (24 hours if they are part of their partners claim).

Working Tax Credit- a young person may be eligible for Working Tax Credit if they are on a low income and:

  • Have a child, and they or their partner work 16 hours or more per week.
  • Have a partner aged 25 or over and working 30 hours or more per week.
  • Are disabled and working 16 hours or more per week.
