The team has been developed as
a specialised team to offer support to children and
families who are significantly affected by disability.
Services are targeted in a way that promotes family
life, individual needs and the rights of the child.
The team works collaboratively with key partner agencies
in health and education to reduce disadvantage and
promote care & support. The team access a range
of provision from both local authority and the private
sector which enables them to provide a flexible response
to individual family needs.

Ardfin opened in 1998 and offers a wide range of flexible
supports. These include overnights, day support and
a sitting service to 42 families. This is a much
valued service by parents. Joint capital/revenue
funded SAC and H.B.
Continue to value family based services and this is
a popular resource for families. Developments planned
to recruit new carers in response to the changing
needs of children and families i.e. support during
the day, at weekends and after school.
Continues to be a popular short break support service
with a high demand from parents. Children are placed
and supported in mainstream settings - childminders,
independent users and playgroups. Comprehensive training
programme with 120 child care providers having undertaken
training and committed to inclusive approach. About
40/50 children and families supported through this
scheme.
Developing the opportunities for children and young
people to do the same things as their peers. Currently
Easter and Summer Play and Leisure scheme in place
run previously by Community Services, this year run
by Aberlour. Great success for the 55 children who
attended. Corporate approach to develop this service.
Already established between special needs team and
Ardfin with after school clubs at Wellington Square-
service
for 8 children.
