AYRSHIRE CHILDREN’S CONTACT CENTRE

Family Mediation

A place where young children of separated/divorced parents can spend time with the parent they do not live with, in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere.

What a Contact Centre is…….
A Contact Centre is a friendly neutral place where children of separated or divorced parents can spend time with the parent they do not live with. Parents can also use the Centre as a pick-up and drop-off point. Referrals are welcome from any parent or agency, and individual meetings will be arranged with each parent to work out and agree on detailed arrangements. In situations where Contact orders are made by the Court it is important that’s the availability of places is checked out beforehand. It is helpful that parents understand that they are always free to discuss changes to arrangements by mutual agreement.

Details of the Contact Centre
The Centre is open from 11am. to 4pm. On SATURDAYS ONLY at present.
Contact visits are arranged on blocks of up to two hours (certainly no longer than three hours). During contact children always remain the responsibility of their parents. The Centre is staffed by an Organiser and trained volunteers who offer support and encouragement especially where there where there has been no or limited contact. The Contact Centre does not offer formal ‘supervised contact’, and therefore no comment or report on the quality of interaction between parent and child (ren) is made or provided. A record of attendance is kept – details of which can be supplied on request, however this will be subject to a fee.

How to make a Referral
To use the Children’s Contact centre, please telephone Family Mediation on – 01563 572429. One of our staff will discuss how best to proceed and if appropriate make arrangements to contact each parent to arrange an individual meeting at which they can discuss options and practicalities.

It is always helpful for parents and children to view the Centre prior to contact arrangements being made, and this can be arranged at the same time.

Once a referral has been completed a letter confirming details of the arrangements will be sent to both parents, and to their solicitors if requested.

Ayrshire Children’s Contact Centre Provides:

  • A friendly, safe and neutral venue
  • Separate rooms for parents who do not wish to meet
  • Supportive staff who will help with play ideas, if asked
  • Toys and games

The centre is located near local shops, and easily accessed by public transport.
