Community Addiction Concerns

Community Addiction Concerns Groups were established to advise the Ayrshire and Arran Alcohol and Drug Action Team on local alcohol and drug issues.

The Alcohol and Drug Action Team recognise that alcohol and drug problems affect entire communities, not only individuals and families.

Aims of Community Addiction Concerns groups are:

  • To bring together groups and individuals who share the common goal of reducing the harm caused by alcohol and drug misuse
  • To represent the concerns and express the views of groups, individuals and communities who are affected by alcohol and drug misuse
  • To inform and influence the planning of current and future services.

Community representation and membership with support advice and guidance from local agencies. Views on alcohol and drug concerns, Community Addiction concerns have adopted several method to be more accessible to local needs:

Meeting held in local places
All meetings are held in local 'community friendly' places, which are easily accessible to everyone who wishes to attend.

Community Consultation
Providing information in local places visiting existing community groups
linking with local events

People's Panel
The People's Panel comprises of community volunteers who contribute feedback on specific concerns related to alcohol and drugs via a questionnaire. All information is private and confidential to Community Addiction Concerns.
