Day Care LinkDay Care Link-
a service helping children and families affected by disability

This community scheme provides regular short breaks with registered childminders, nurseries, playgroups and out of school groups.

What is Day Care Link?
Day Care link offers a short break once a week – either during the day or after school to children affected by disability.

Who are the Carers?
The short breaks are with existing childcare services: - with childminders, in nurseries, playgroups and out of school services.
Parents can choose the placement that best suits their child.

 Why is it needed?
Families who have a child with disabilities often face additional day-to-day demands.Day Care Link gives parents a chance to relax or time to do things with other family members e.g. leisure activities; appointments; shopping etc. Parents are assured that their child is happy and well cared for whilst the child can have fun and enjoy new experiences.

Who runs the scheme?
South Ayrshire Council’s Special Needs Team, Children and Family Services run Day Care link. The people who care for children are registered by the Scottish Commission for the Regulation of Care and have received additional training in working with children who have disabilities. Placements can be arranged through Social Work and there is no charge to parents for the service.
