Childcare Development Project

Stepping Stones for Families is a National Voluntary Organisation which has been connecting with families and young people in Scotland for over 15 years.

The Childcare Development Project is based in Auchincruive in Ayr with our Out of School Care services operating within Girvan Primary School and Gardenrose Primary School in Maybole. We work in partnership with South Ayrshire Council and a variety of other agencies. We currently have 10 employees and additional sessional staff.

Our aim: ‘Families and Communities within South Ayrshire will have access to more flexible, affordable, inclusive, high quality childcare to meet the varying individual needs’

SERVICES

Childminding
If you are looking to start up your own business and are interested in childcare our project can assist. We provide an 8 week pre-registration course for childminders. The project recruits, supports and sustains childminders in South Ayrshire and assist childminders to access post registration training. In addition to this we provide information, assistance and support through the facilitation of support groups throughout South Ayrshire and provide quarterly newsletters with valuable information.

South Ayrshire Sitter Service
A sitter service (Childcare Agency) provides childcare within your OWN home for children 0-16 years of age. This is a flexible service to meet the needs of parents/carers hoping to remain/obtain employment, training, education or for respite care. The service operates from 6 am – 1 am 7 days a week, 52 weeks of the year. Costs are variable dependant on personal circumstances. We also deliver sits to the Prestigious Westin Turnberry Resort. This service is available to families, agencies and other hotels in South Ayrshire.

Out of School Care
The project manages 2 out of school care projects in Maybole & Girvan. These provide after school care and holiday activities.. We provide a safe, secure, fun and stimulating environment for children. The services are for parents looking to remain/obtain employment, training, education, for children to experience good quality play experiences and parents/carers to have some respite.
