START Project
They aim to support young homeless people in finding and sustaining accommodation and reduce the danger of them sleeping rough.

Key service objectives are:

  • tackling homelessness, South Ayrshire Council’s local homeless strategy will be developed further following the introduction of the new Housing Act.
  • improve housing management, the Council is continually updating and reviewing policy and procedures in its objective to provide quality housing management services.
  • improving housing quality, this is a broadbased objective aimed at improving the housing conditions, and therefore quality of life, for all residents of South Ayrshire.
  • meeting community care needs, South Ayrshire recognises the role of housing, in community care in terms, of assessing housing needs for community care; strategic planning; enabling and influencing the activities of other providers, including the private sector; providing housing directly.
  • the service aims to provide quality rented accommodation at a low cost. The staff work closely with Housing Benefit Officers to ensure that tenants on a low income receive maximum entitlement to housing benefit.
  • a quality repairs service is provided 24 hours a day and the Council aim to complete all emergency repairs within 4 hours.
