 The
building incorporates a large café / lounge area,
a music room, an art project room and an information
technology suite.
In addition to providing a variety
of clubs and ‘after school’ services for
young people, the Space Place is now also an accredited
Learning Centre.
We have regular adult activities,
including classes in aerobics, computing, fitness and
music tuition.
We also have space available for
hire and our lounge is regularly used for conferences,
birthday parties, meetings, concerts, (check the website
for prices).
Our IT room features 16 high-spec
Pcs with broadband internet access.

We provide easy internet access for members of the public
for a nominal ‘log-on’ charge of 50p.
Our lounge is also a regular
venue for live gigs. SPL, on the first Saturday of each
month, features four of the best local acts. We provide
staging, lights and the p.a. as well as a qualified
sound engineer - we also have a ‘profit share’
scheme so that performers can make money from their
gigs.
SPL ‘unplugged’ features
mainly acoustic acts. The ‘open’ platform
gives new performers the chance to take their first
steps on the ladder to fame and fortune.
We also provide music tuition and
our studio available for hire and equipped with the
latest recording software.
 The
Space Place opened in the summer of 2001 and aims to
provide an innovative community facility with a particular
emphasis on kids from Primary 5 and upwards.
Since our initial sponsorship from
the Rotary Club of Prestwick and the National Lottery
Charity Board (Community fund), Space Place is now funded
through The Rank Foundation, South Ayrshire Council
and the New Opportunities Fund.
The project is managed by a Board of Directors and an
Executive Committee; membership of both is drawn from
the local community.
